The Bangkok Mass Transit System comprises the elevated rapid transit system called the BTS Skytrain and the underground subway system called the Mass Rapid Transit, MRT, and often known as Bangkok Metro. As of July, 2010, there are two Skytrain lines and one Metro line.

The Skytrain lines are called the Sukhumvit Line and the Silom Line. The stations are all coded according to their compass location in relation to the Siam Station, which is the interchange for the two lines. The sole Metro Line is called the MRT Blue Line. Each station carries a three-letter station code.
